Missing France

OK, so it used to be that every time fall rolled around I would get blue because old break-ups, family deaths, and other such nonsense. They all seemed to occur during this season.

So, while I was walking around my neighborhood this evening, my mind drifted to thoughts of France. I realized I'm not feeling blue, but, instead, I'm longing. I'm longing for all things French. I don't need to go there soon, but I like to think about it now and then.

I've been to France twice now and I've loved my visits. I loved walking the streets of Paris, the halls of Versailles, and driving through the countryside. I actually loved the people. There was only one time when a French person was not-so-nice and that was when I tried taking a picture of magazine porn at one of those kiosks along the Seine. Whoah! Don't ever do that. (be warned)

So while this video doesn't show much of France, it does convey what I feel when I think of France. No, not stomach cramps or delirium, just a longing.

Drunken Blog

I spent the evening with Msh's sister and her husband who are visiting from ATL. Long story short, I had too many glasses of Pinot and now I'm drunk. It's been a long time since I've been drunk. Being the good Catholic boy, I'm always feeling guilty for feeling good. I just can't justify it without the guilt.

I'm also thinking about my trip to France in the fall. What will I wear? How am I going to pack just enough to make it a whole week? Will my seats on the plane be comfortable? I just don't know.

These are the songs I want to hear in my drunken state:
Feist: "1 2 3 4"

Dido: "White Flag"

Concerto in G by Vivaldi:

Good night.
